Getting around Rome with children from here

Valle Aurelia station is 300 m away. Metro A goes directly to Ottaviano (St Peter's), Flaminio (Piazza del Popolo), Spagna (Spanish Steps) and Termini without changes. For the Colosseum, change at Termini to Metro B. With small children, the short walk to the station and the fact that you can come back for an afternoon nap make a big difference compared with hotels further out.
